Winter Tips for Utility Vehicles
Just like any vehicle or heavy operating equipment, utility vehicles (UTVs) need special care during the winter season. Below are some helpful tips/steps we’ve put together for you to ensure smooth operation from your utility vehicle this winter season.
Seasonal Maintenance
Fluids/Lubrication
Antifreeze levels should be checked when the temperatures drop and changed out every two years. Checking the radiator for blockages to avoid overheating and warming up your UTV before use when temperatures are low are also helpful tips. Using an engine block heater overnight can ensure you have a smooth start if planning to use your utility vehicle in the morning. Another important step to take when preparing your utility vehicle for winter use is to lubricate all grease fittings; doing so will help to avoid potential corrosion from happening.
Tire Pressure
Ensuring tire pressure is at proper inflation levels is an important step to take during the winter season because colder temperatures can reduce tire inflation. Be sure to check tire pressure before every use during low temperatures this winter season and adjust your tires PSI if needed.
Attachments
Cab
If your UTV does not have a cab, adding one may be something worth looking into. Especially if you are planning to use for snow removal or other winter activities.
